왜 하필 2001년 애리조나 선수들 이름을 꺼낼까 의아해하던 순간 깨달음.
당시 김병현이 마무리였고 그해 월드시리즈를 한국 팬들이 티비로 시청했었다는 걸

기사가 또 말하길 "Sammy Sosa!"
새미 소사의 최근 사진을 보여줬더니 놀라서 눈을 크게 뜨며 "Sammy Sosa?"라고 함.

The last player he brought up was Ken Griffey Jr. I tried to run some names by him: Mike Trout, Bryce Harper, Aaron Judge. The only one he knew was Clayton Kershaw. I’m not positive why Kershaw -- probably Hyun-Jin Ryu? -- but he nodded and motioned with his left arm. 8/11

기사가 마지막으로 꺼낸 이름은 켄 그리피 주니어였음.
트라웃, 하퍼, 저지 등 최근 선수들 이름을 대며 물어봤지만
기사가 유일하게 알고 있는 이름은 커쇼였음.
왜 하필 커쇼인지 모르겠는데 - 아마 류현진 때문? - 고개를 끄덕이더니 왼팔로 모션을 취했음.

For 15 minutes, we had a real conversation despite speaking two completely different languages. He barely knows English. I know even less Korean. Baseball -- excuse me: pro baseball -- was the only translator we needed. 9/11
